  • Appointed by CPSA Council, bearing overall responsibility for managing and resolving complaints about the conduct of regulated members.
  • Overall responsibility for the effective operation of the Professional Conduct department.
  • Assess and manage risk to the public in all issues pertaining to complaints.
  • In matters directed to Hearing, engage with CPSA’s legal counsel to build a sound prosecution.
  • Ensures adequate communication with the profession and other stakeholders (through articles, speaking engagements, and personal contact) about complaint processes and lessons learned.
  • Ensures that the entire complaints resolution process is evaluated and enhanced through ongoing quality assurance.
  • Uses feedback and learning from complaints processes and outcomes to make recommendations to Council regarding new Standards of Practice and Bylaws, and amendments to existing Standards of Practice and Bylaws.

Assistant Registrar, Accreditation CPSA (2020-2023)

  • Participation in governance processes from the Department of Accreditation Advisory Committees and Medical Facility Accreditation Committee (MFAC) to CPSA Council
  • Providing input into, and engaging members and stakeholders in the design and delivery of accreditation assessment tools and approaches
  • Providing advice and support to the Registrar, staff, colleagues and physician membership broadly on multiple regulatory, as well accreditation program-specific issues.

Medical Director and Senior Medical Officer, Hospice Waikato (2014-2016)

  • Oversaw the medical care for all patients enrolled in both adult and paediatric hospice programs within the Waikato region of New Zealand.
  • Ex officio Board member with responsibility for monitoring quality of care and services
  • Oversaw the community palliative care house office and resident (registrar) rotations for Hamilton and rural Waikato hospitals (Thames, Tokoroa, Te Kuiti and Taumarunui
  • Held overall accountability for clinical outcomes of palliative care in the region, including hospital admission reduction, clinically appropriate hospice utilization, appropriate risk stratification of patients, and collaborative relationships with community and primary care

  • Provided leadership at the regional level as a recognized leader in palliative care, demonstrating in-depth and current knowledge of clinical and system level issues
